How To: The 4 Best Tips to Create an All-Natural Eczema Treatment Regimen

Posted by Jennifer Orejobi on

We have often been told that the key to managing and treating eczema is to keep the skin soft and supple.  We have been told to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.  In my opinion, this is a true statement.  Moisturizing may be all that is needed to treat certain types of eczema.

One really needs need to evaluate the condition of the skin that they are planning to moisturize. Depending on the type of eczema, or for that matter, skin condition one is suffering from they might be experiencing dead skin build up and scales. Moisturizing without exfoliating may produce some positive results, but not nearly as much as if they were to also exfoliate. Just think of it as rubbing butter on the shell of an almond in an attempt to butter the nut inside.  Hmmmm, how much butter will reach that nut?  Whereas if we crack that almond shell then apply the butter directly on the nut, our results will be a buttery nut.

It is the same for eczema sufferers with thick skin build up. Exfoliation removes the dead layers of skin, which would allow the treatment creams and moisturizers to work a lot better. Exfoliation also gives the skin a much smoother softer appearance and one will also experience less itching.

Are you suffering from a skin condition that causes your skin to be scaly or thickened?  Indulge in soaks at least twice per week, for at least thirty minutes each time. Try this with the use of lukewarm water, since hot water can also cause itching. Adding a mixture of Epsom salts and salt to the water are also very effective.  These are natural ingredients great for treating inflammation and helping with oxygenation.

If eczema has caused stress in your life, or your eczema is caused by stress, soaking may be a great way to achieve some meditative time. You may want to try some aromatherapy while soaking.

In summary, follow these tips to create an all-natural eczema treatment regimen

  1. Evaluate
  2. Exfoliate
  3. Moisturize
  4. Mediate
